HUMAN ACCESS in Hadhramaut Governorate carried out community awareness raising to coincide with the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which falls on February 6 of every year.
This is part of the protection and livelihood support project “Safe Space for Women and Girls”, which is financed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).
Among the activities of the community awareness campaign were an awareness session in Seiyun city, an interview with Seiyun Radio and another on Mukalla Radio, with the aim of raising public awareness of the FGM phenomenon.
The act of gender-based violence represented by FGM has long-term physical, psychological, and social consequences, and a voice of survivors is crucial to achieving the global goal of ending FGM by 2030.
