Under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the local authority in Al-Mahrah Governorate, HUMAN ACCESS launched the World Patient Safety Day 2025 activities. This event is part of the Reproductive Health Services Support Project, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The activities target health workers in five hospitals across the districts of Al-Ghaydah, Qishn, Sayhut, Hawf, and Shahn.

Under the slogan "Patient Safety from the Start: Safe Care for Every Newborn and Every Child," the event aims to raise awareness of and improve patient safety culture and affirm every child's right to receive safe, high-quality care.

In the first World Patient Safety Day 2025 event, a scientific symposium was held at Al-Ghaydah Central Hospital, with the participation of several doctors and health professionals, and the attendance of several officials from the governorate's public health sector.

The scientific lectures presented at the symposium by specialist doctors and trainers focused on the importance of healthcare for newborns and children, emphasizing the role of breastfeeding and the importance of immunization in preventing fatal childhood diseases. They also reviewed the foundations for providing quality healthcare tailored to the needs of children of all ages.

At the symposium’s opening, Dr. Awad Mubarak, Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Al-Mahrah, emphasized the importance of highlighting the need to provide a safe and healthy environment from birth through various stages of life. He also praised the significant role played by HUMAN ACCESS and UNFPA in supporting the health sector in Al-Mahrah.

The Director of Al-Mahrah's Public Health Office's Quality and Infection Control Department, Ahmed Al-Hamed, stressed the need for a collaborative effort to ensure safer healthcare and to make people aware of the risks associated with care for children and newborns across all healthcare settings.
