As part of the ongoing support offered by the Reproductive Health Services Support Project, HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate delivered medical supplies, medicines, and hygiene items to the obstetric emergency department at Al-Ghaydha Central Hospital during the first quarter of 2023, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief).
The delivery took place under the auspices of Mohammad Ali Yasser, Governor of Al-Mahrah, under the supervision of the Office of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate, and in the presence of Ali Bakhit Al-Mutairi, the Assistant Director of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in Al-Mahrah Office Branch, Dr. Murad bin Aqil, the Medical Coordinator of the Center, and Mohsen Mohammad Balhaf, the Director General of Al-Ghaydah Central Hospital.
During the delivery ceremony, the Director General of Al-Ghaydha Hospital said that these medical materials and supplies that are delivered every quarter to the obstetric emergency department cover a large and significant part of the department's needs, expressing thanks and appreciation for HUMAN ACCESS, UNFPA, and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for this health support to improve reproductive health in Al-Mahrah.
The project to support reproductive health services is being implemented for the fourth year in a row, benefiting about 12,000 cases annually in Al-Mahrah Governorate.
Considering Yemen's protracted conflict and the severe effects it is having on the health care system, this project aims to improve access to reproductive health services as essential and human rights services.
