With support from Kuwait, the foundation stone was laid for the Prosthetics and Physiotherapy Center in Taiz
In the presence of the First Deputy Governor of Taiz, Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Mekhlafi, HUMAN ACCESS laid the foundation stone for the Prosthetics and Physiotherapy Center, which will be implemented by HUMAN ACCESS and funded by the Global Charity Association for Development "Tanmeia" - the sisterly State of Kuwait.
The project aims to treat cases that require physiotherapy and prosthetics instead of lost limbs. The project would be implemented in three phases, namely the construction phase, the supply and installation of medical equipment, and then the operation phase. It is anticipated to be implemented and delivered within a year and a half.
Alongside reviewing the construction and engineering layouts, Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Mikhlafi said that this project will serve a large segment of affected people in Taiz, who are in need of prosthetics, psychological rehabilitation, and physiotherapy.
On behalf of the local authorities in the governorate, he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the sisterly State of Kuwait, including its Prince, Government, and People, for supporting such projects, as well as to HUMAN ACCESS, which implements such important interventions.
For his part, the Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Taiz, Mr. Rajeh Al-Maliki said that this project has been a dream for many people in Taiz governorate for several years. The need transpires due to population expansion, the existence of people with disabilities, not to mention thousands of disabled people as result of war.
During the event, which was attended by the Head of Al-Thawrah Hospital, Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Same’ie, the Director General of the Public Health Office, Mr. Al-Maliki expected that this Center will not serve Taiz only, but also the neighboring governorates.
