Site handover for extension of Hadhramaut's water network project in Tabalah and Al-Mishrafah areas
In a significant step, a contractor in Hadhramaut Governorate took possession of the site for a water network extension project in Tabalah and Al-Mishrafah areas of Al-Shihr District. The project is being implemented by HUMAN ACCESS and funded by the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
The handover ceremony was held under the auspices of the local authority in Al-Shihr District, and in the presence of representatives from the Hadhramaut Coast Water Corporation, its Al-Shihr branch, and the Executive Unit for IDP Camp Management in the governorate.
This project, part of the multi-sectoral assistance project, is expected to benefit more than 4,620 residents of the targeted areas of Tabalah and Al-Mishrafah, who are facing a worsening water crisis due to climate change.
The project involves the extension of a 2,590-meter water network and aims to improve access to safe water services, alleviate the suffering of women and children who bear the brunt of the water crisis, and reduce the health risks resulting from water scarcity or contamination.
