HUMAN ACCESS has been praised by representatives of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for its ability to implement programs against gender-based violence. The presence of HUMAN ACCESS in the Aden office and Mukalla hub was effective and distinguished and was appreciated by UNFPA with the efforts of the protection and livelihood support project staff (Safe Space for Women and Girls).

This came during an inspection visit paid by the UNFPA representatives yesterday Sunday to the headquarters of the Protection and Livelihood Support Project (Safe Space for Women and Girls) in the city of Mukalla. The delegation was received by Aseel Joban, secretary general of HUMAN ACCESS in Mukalla branch, the Protection and Livelihood Support Project coordinator, Dr. Sarah Alawi Al-Sharafi, and the Safe Space manager, Ms. Maha Salah Lahamdi.

Representatives of the UNFPA met with the project management and toured the sections of the space, which included a literacy hall, the children’s space, health, psychological, social and legal offices, and a hairdressing course for survivors of gender-based violence. The delegation was also briefed during the visit on the work progress and the major challenges facing the protection project in Mukalla.

The UNFPA representatives commended HUMAN ACCESS’s role in implementing protection and livelihood support programs (Safe Space for Women and Girls), and their partnership with HUMAN ACCESS, given the fact that HUMAN ACCESS has a long experience in humanitarian work. This experience has qualified HUMAN ACCESS to be a partner of UNFPA in implementing the project’s programs it offers to the Yemeni community.
