To reduce female genital mutilation (FGM) and mobilize opposition against the practice, which violates the basic human rights of women and girls, HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate conducted an awareness session and training course, funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
As part of the awareness session, a number of women were present to discuss gender-based violence, including female genital mutilation, while the training session targeted community networks to educate them and activate their role in combating FGM for girls, which has long-term negative physical and psychological effects.
