The office of the Ministry of Public Health and Population in Al-Mahra Governorate, in cooperation with HUMAN ACCESS branch, and with funding from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), launched a training course for health cadres at Al-Ghaydah Central Hospital on the care of newborns and premature infants.

At the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Awad Mubarak Sa’ad, director general of the Health and Population Office in the governorate, praised the HUMAN ACCESS efforts made in serving the health sector and the interest in qualifying the health staff in the governorate, stressing the need to hold such courses that benefit the health system and reduce the neonatal mortality rate.

For his part, Mustafa Al-Qadri, executive director of the HUMAN ACCESS branch in the governorate, explained that the course contributed to building the capacities of health workers, providing them with basic skills for neonatal risk signs, and special care for low-weight and premature babies to reduce the neonatal mortality rate in the governorate.

Meanwhile, the nursing supervisor at Al-Ghaydah Central Hospital, Salah Badr bin Abdulmane, stressed the importance of improving the level of health services and upgrading the efficiency of the course participants on how to provide basic care for newborns and premature infants, and methods for diagnosing risk signs for newborns.
