Building and activating community and peer protection committees to advocate for women's issues
With funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) HUMAN ACCESS in Marib Governorate implemented a range of activities within the Protection and Livelihood Support Project “Safe Space for Women and Girls” as part of broader efforts to strengthen the role of women in Yemen and protect them from harmful practices.
In Al-Jufaina area, the safe space held two meetings, the first for the community peer network in the context of mobilizing and advocating for women's issues in the men's gatherings, and the second meeting for the community protection committees to find out and develop their agenda in a way that makes women and girls less vulnerable to violations.
The safe space in Al-Jufainah continues to build the capacities of the community committee members and the peer network through continuous training on gender-based violence issues and the response mechanism according to the human rights-based services provided by the space to reduce violence against women.
In Al-Matar area, the safe space organized a group psychological support and awareness sessions for a number of visitors to the space about anxiety and ways of prevention, the importance of obtaining identity documents, family dialogue, steps to build trust between spouses, and others that would support women's rights in the face of many crises.
