On the occasion of World Refugee Day, which falls on June 20th of each year, and with funding from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), HUMAN ACCESS in Aden Governorate organized an awareness-raising event at Al-Basateen Charitable Medical Center, targeting mothers of children with special needs and a number of influential mothers in the community.
The awareness-raising event addressed several issues, including home births and their associated risks, the importance of early intervention for children with birth injuries, and the important role of physical therapy.
During the event, a group of mothers who continue to treat their children were honored, and symbolic gifts were delivered to a number of children benefiting from the medical center's physical therapy department.
With UNHCR’s support, HUMAN ACCESS operates Al-Basateen Charitable Medical Center in Dar Saad District, as part of the refugee health project implemented in Al-Basateen and Kharaz areas of Aden and Lahj governorates.
The project aims to enhance access to basic healthcare for the most vulnerable refugees and expand health service coverage in Yemen, which suffers from one of the highest disease risks worldwide.
