Education is not just a basic right; it is the path to a more stable and prosperous society. It is the cornerstone of achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Investing in education is an investment in the future of generations.

In Yemen, education is at a critical juncture amid worsening challenges. More than ten years of conflict have left the education system in a deplorable state. Many Yemeni families face enormous challenges in securing education for their children, amidst the increasing dropout rate, a serious problem that has a devastating impact on achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4, on quality and inclusive education for all.

Therefore, HUMAN ACCESS is intensifying its efforts to support the education sector at all levels. The association is working to expand safe and equitable access to education throughout Yemen, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups, including girls, orphans, and displaced persons.

A Presence to Restore Hope:

HUMAN ACCESS efforts include supporting educational infrastructure, renovating classrooms and building new ones, and establishing and equipping model schools with modern specifications. These efforts provide students with a stimulating learning environment that enhances knowledge, hones skills, and encourages innovation and creativity.

The association also encourages children to return to school, especially in September, after the summer break, by distributing school uniforms and school bags containing essential supplies. This helps alleviate the financial burden associated with education on families.

HUMAN ACCESS interventions extend to educational sponsorships, providing financial incentives to motivate male and female teachers to attend school and teach, and other interventions that contribute to comprehensive and safe access to education, increasing student enrollment opportunities, and helping prepare a generation capable of actively participating in serving their community and nation.

Shining and Tangible Achievements:

With the support of partners and donors, and in coordination with official authorities, 4,248 boy and girl students across Yemen benefited from educational projects implemented by HUMAN ACCESS during the first half of 2025. The association continues to respond to educational needs, targeting both boys and girls.

In a press statement, Secretary-General of HUMAN ACCESS, Dr. Abdulwase Alwasei, said that the association will continue to defend every child's right to education, as education is a vital right and a condition of life. It is imperative to invest in it and meet the most critical needs of vulnerable children to ensure recovery, economic growth, and social cohesion.

Dr. Alwasei emphasized that HUMAN ACCESS' commitment to promoting education is a top priority, even in difficult circumstances, based on its belief that education is the foundation of social growth and provides communities with the ability to act and escape poverty, both being equally essential to fostering solutions for peace and development. He called for protecting humanitarian funding allocated to education and prioritizing education to create a bright and prosperous future for Yemen.

Educational Sponsorship as an Example:

There are many success stories that illustrate the profound impact of educational projects implemented on beneficiaries. One such story is that of a female student Amina, who dreamed of becoming a doctor, engineer, or archaeologist. Her dream was nearly dashed after her father's death. It is well known that orphans are among the groups most vulnerable to dropping out of school.

Student Amina spoke about her dreams, saying, "Every day, my dreams grow with me, and education is the only way to achieve my ambitions. So, stand by me."

To prevent her beautiful dream and the dreams of others like her from being extinguished, the Educational Sponsorship Project for Orphans in Yemen, implemented by HUMAN ACCESS, in partnership with the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), was launched.

Thanks to this project, Amina was able to study in the seventh grade at a school in Taiz Governorate, and she received various services, including school supplies and enrollment in educational programs aimed at raising her cognitive, cultural, and moral standards. This reflected her active participation in school activities, according to her teachers at the school. It also helped in her proper upbringing, as confirmed by her mother, Naseeba, who thanked the Educational Sponsorship Project for Orphans.
