HUMAN ACCESS in Al-Mahra Governorate opened a workshop to combat female genital mutilations (FGM), funded by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with the participation of members of the local authority, representatives of government ministries, civil society organizations, delegates of doctors and mosque preachers.
The workshop discussed several themes on female genital mutilation, including the health theme and the opinion of doctors, the religious theme and the opinion of Sharia, and the legal theme and the opinion of Yemeni law. The workshop recommended the formulation of a health awareness program on the harmful effects of female genital mutilation on the health of girls.
