A UN delegation headed by Mr. Diego Zorella, UN Deputy Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, together with Ms. Mutinta Chimuka, Head of the WFP's Aden Office; Mr. Hundubey Ahmed, Head of WFP Turbah Office; and Representatives from UNICEF and UNDP, conducted a visit to the IDPs' sites in the areas of Al-Jahmaliyah and Al-Jame'ah in Taiz Governorate to further examine the humanitarian situation of IDPs.
During the visit, the delegation held meetings with representatives from: local authorities, IDPs living in Al-Jahmaliyah and Al-Jame'ah areas, the host community, local authorities of Salalah district, as well as IDP Unit and Community Committees. In addition, the delegation took record of the existing needs of Salalah district and discussed the challenges and difficulties in light of the increased waves of displacement.
During a meeting, Mr. Zorella stressed the importance of providing more humanitarian and relief projects for the displaced people (IDPs) and members of the host community.
The visiting delegation valued the humanitarian efforts exerted by HUMAN ACCESS in alleviating the suffering of IDPs and needy households.
It is worth mentioning that HUMAN ACCESS implements the Project “General Food Distribution” in Salalah District for nearly 7,000 IDP and neediest households, in partnership with World Food Program (WFP).
