As part of the protection and livelihood support project "Safe Space for Women and Girls", funded by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), HUMAN ACCESS has launched a 16-day campaign to combat gender-based violence in the governorates of Shabwa and Al-Mahra, to contribute to the creation of a general culture of addressing forms of violence against women.
There was an introductory seminar on this international campaign in the city of Ataq, Shabwa, which covered the concept of violence against women, its forms, and its negative impact on individuals, families, and society in the presence of a number of women and girls.
According to UN statistics, more than one out of three women are affected by violence, which was the topic of the seminar. Leaflets were distributed in connection with the campaign and a video presentation was shown about the phenomenon of violence that affects many women.
In the city of Al-Ghaydah in Al-Mahra, two events were held. As part of the first event, 19 beneficiaries of health workers and social workers attended a workshop, aimed at preventing violence against women, while as part of the second event, 25 female teachers received collective psychological support under the heading "Burnout and its Impact on Mental Health”.
The 16-day campaign against gender-based violence starts from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and continues until December 10, which is Human Rights Day, as an annual international campaign, with the aim of intensifying efforts to eliminate one of the worst manifestations of discrimination against women and girls
