Approximately 4,680 people representing 780 Yemeni refugee families in Djibouti and the host community benefited from this year's Ramadan basket project, which was implemented by HUMAN ACCESS in Djibouti in collaboration with the French Life organization and the Wasel Commercial Group to distribute Ramadan assistance to the most vulnerable groups.

The Ramadan basket project included the distribution of food items consisting of flour, rice, cooking oil, pasta, legumes, dates and tea to 680 families, including 360 poor and needy families from the Djiboutian host community in the Djiboutian capital, and 320 families from Yemeni refugee families in the central camp of the Obokh region, with the support of the French Life organization.

The project, implemented by the HUMAN ACCESS office, also included the delivery of food baskets consisting of flour, legumes, dates, cooking oil, sauce, and a packet of cake for 100 poor and needy families from the Djiboutian host community and Yemeni refugees in the capital Djibouti, with funding from the Wasel Trading Group, which is one of the local commercial companies.

The Ramadan basket project helped alleviate the burdens of families burdened with the costs of life and asylum by providing some of their living requirements during the days of the blessed month of Ramadan, due to the shrinking food production in the Middle East and North Africa region as a consequence of conflicts and the worsening climate crisis, according to UN reports.
