An overview of IHH:
A non-governmental organization working at the international level in the field of humanitarian relief. IHH was established in Istanbul in 1992 with the purpose to deliver aid to all the needy, victims of war and natural disasters, wounded, crippled, starved, homeless and persecuted regardless of their religion, language, race or sect and to prevent violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms of these people.
IHH’s voluntary relief activities have evolved to an official organization in 1995 and spread around five continents as it established a bridge of goodwill stretching from Turkey to 123 countries.
IHH areas of action
The organization works in several fields, including:
- Humanitarian aid
- Human rights, defending the rights of prisoners, and the release of hostages
- Humanitarian diplomacy
- Establish development projects
- Control diseases and epidemics
- Education and health
- Participate and host international humanitarian meetings and conferences
IHH interventions in Yemen
The interventions in Yemen lie through launching emergency relief campaigns to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, providing food, medicine, water and health services, in addition to supporting health care centers and offering medicines to patients.
IHH has contributed to providing food stocks and monitoring humanitarian cases that require emergency aid and that are located in war and siege zones. It also extends a helping hand to some Yemeni regions suffering from conflicts and wars meant to provide medical aid, food, clothing, and shelter, as well as relief aid for emergency humanitarian cases that require urgent medical intervention.
