Funded by the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO), the Orphan Sponsorship and Care Sector of HUMAN ACCESS carried out a semi-comprehensive sponsorship project for orphans for the fourth quarter of last year, targeting 138 male and female orphans in the governorates of Taiz, Hadhramaut and Marib to secure their basic needs and lift them from a bitter reality that besieges them in the shadow of a homeland ravaged by conflict.

The semi-comprehensive sponsorship for orphans includes disbursement of cash aid, distribution of food baskets, delivery of winter clothing, payment of tuition fees, in addition to providing health care, and holding cultural and recreational activities.

The goal is to help protect these orphans, because they are among the most vulnerable groups and always bear the highest cost of wars, and they have the right to enjoy a decent life.

The armed conflict in Yemen has left a large segment of orphans living in extreme poverty after losing the breadwinner, in conjunction with the deterioration of the economic situation and the lack of access to basic services.

Consequently, it is very important to work to alleviate the impact of their tragedy and to find serious solutions to contain the phenomenon of orphans, otherwise, they will turn into a human earthquake in the country.

It is worth noting that the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) sponsors 1145 male and female orphans and provides them with comprehensive care in all Yemen’s governorates.
