General Objective of the Position
Enhance community participation in supporting education and child protection through the formation of local committees, implementation of awareness campaigns, and coordination of field activities to achieve project objectives and strengthen the role of communities in protecting children and promoting access to education.
Contribute to building and strengthening collaborative relationships between the project and targeted communities by mobilizing and encouraging active and positive participation from various community stakeholders (including parents, parent-teacher associations, and community leaders) to support education, child protection, and psychosocial support activities for children.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise the formation, training, and activation of community committees (such as parent-teacher associations) to support educational initiatives and strengthen child protection.
- Implement awareness campaigns and community discussions on the importance of education, child protection, and combating harmful practices such as gender-based violence.
- Directly supervise the implementation of field activities in targeted schools within the project scope.
- Organize community awareness sessions in targeted areas on the importance of education, inclusion of children with special needs, and ensuring access to formal schools.
- Participate in needs assessments, data collection, focus group discussions, and awareness activities in coordination with the monitoring and evaluation team.
- Encourage parents to enroll their children in formal and non-formal education programs and monitor regular attendance.
- Act as the main focal point between the project, local communities, and relevant authorities at the area level.
- Contribute to the selection and recruitment of community volunteers and local activists, and coordinate their participation in project activities.
- Document success stories and field challenges and share them with the project team.
- Collect accurate information from communities on challenges, risks, and needs, and report them to relevant project stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CRM) to ensure accountability and responsiveness to beneficiaries’ needs.
- Follow up on documentation of community activities and submit daily and weekly reports to the supervisor.
- Ensure accuracy in documenting data collected from the field.
- Adhere to Human Access organizational policies and practices, including codes of conduct and administrative regulations.
- Perform any other project-related tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community mobilization for protection and education projects within humanitarian organizations.
- Advanced experience in designing, managing, and implementing community mobilization and awareness programs.
- Advanced level of English (written and spoken).
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to build trust with community leaders and members.
- Knowledge of community committee structures and initiatives.
- High competence in organizing and facilitating participatory and effective community meetings and workshops.
- Experience in field data collection and documentation of activities according to technical standards.
- Ability to plan and implement awareness, advocacy, and community mobilization campaigns supporting education and protection.
- Leadership skills in managing and guiding field teams, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in preparing and drafting technical reports related to field activities and campaigns.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage positively with diverse community groups.
- Familiarity with policies and procedures for coordination with official authorities and local communities, and ability to apply them effectively.
- Ability to work in challenging field environments and travel between targeted areas as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for preparing documents and reports.
- Skills in data collection, analysis, and presentation to support decision-making.
- Ability to prepare technical reports related to project activities in line with institutional standards.
