Basic Information about the Position

General Objective of the Position To follow up on the implementation of field shelter activities within humanitarian projects, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards and providing adequate and sustainable housing for targeted groups, in coordination with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assess needs in field sites and identify appropriate shelter interventions.
  2. Prepare technical designs and drawings in line with approved engineering and humanitarian standards.
  3. Prepare bills of quantities, cost estimates, and follow up on procurement and supply processes.
  4. Conduct field supervision of shelter activities, ensuring quality and safety in implementation.
  5. Coordinate with local communities, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.
  6. Prepare periodic technical reports on progress, challenges, and achievements.
  7. Adhere to beneficiary protection policies, gender, diversity, and environmental considerations.
  8. Ensure protection, privacy, and dignity principles are integrated into all shelter activities.
  9. Supervise field implementation of shelter activities, ensuring compliance with work plans and approved standards.
  10. Comply with working hours set by project management.
  11. Respect workplace ethics and adhere to the Association’s and UNHCR’s code of conduct.
  12. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

Basic Requirements Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related fields such as Surveying or Building.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in shelter projects within humanitarian contexts.
  • Good understanding of protection and shelter issues in emergency settings.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
