Job Title: Community Mobilization Assistant

Number Required: One

Location: Aden Governorate

Contract Duration: Sixteen months

Job Responsibilities:

Contribute to building and strengthening the collaborative relationship between the project and the target communities, by mobilizing and stimulating active and positive participation from various components of the local community (including parents, parent-teacher councils, and community leaders), to support educational activities, child protection, and providing psychosocial support to children.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the formation, training, and activation of community committees (such as parent-teacher councils) to support educational initiatives and enhance child protection.
  • Implement awareness campaigns and community discussions on the importance of education, child protection, and combating harmful practices such as gender-based violence.
  • Organize community awareness sessions in targeted areas on the importance of education, the inclusion of children with special needs, and ensuring access to formal schools.
  • Participate in the implementation of needs assessments, data collection, focus group sessions, and media and awareness-raising activities, in coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team.
  • Motivate parents to enroll their children in formal and non-formal education programs and monitor their regular attendance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the project, the local community, and relevant authorities at the district level.
  • Contribute to the selection and recruitment of community volunteers and local activists, and coordinate their participation in project activities.
  • Adhere to HUMAN ACCESS policies and practices, including the Code of Conduct and relevant administrative policies.
  • Carry out any other project-related tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience managing community mobilization for protection and education projects in humanitarian organizations.
  • Advanced experience in designing, managing, and implementing mobilization, awareness-raising, and community engagement programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to build trust with community leaders and members.
  • Knowledge of the working mechanisms of community committees and initiatives.
  • Highly proficient in organizing and facilitating community meetings and workshops in a participatory and effective manner.
  • Experience in collecting field data and documenting activities according to approved technical standards.
  • Ability to plan and implement awareness-raising, advocacy, and community mobilization campaigns to support education and protection issues.
  • Leadership skills in managing and directing field work teams, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in preparing and drafting technical reports related to field activities and campaigns.
  • A deep understanding of human relations and the ability to interact positively with diverse segments of society.
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures related to coordination with official bodies and local communities, and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Ability to work in challenging field environments and move between target areas as required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare documents and reports.
  • Skilled in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in a clear manner that supports decision-making.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports related to project activities in accordance with institutional standards.
