Project Background
The Girls’ Protection and Empowerment Project – Phase II aims to strengthen community protection systems for girls most at risk of violence, exploitation, and denial of rights. It builds on achievements from Phase I, which raised awareness on child rights, child marriage, gender-based violence, and female genital mutilation. The project also develops referral mechanisms, provides specialized support services, expands prevention and response interventions, and enhances the capacities of abused girls through an entrepreneurial approach.
Overall Purpose of the Position
To provide direct protection services within the project alongside case management, conduct psychosocial support sessions, organize awareness activities, facilitate referrals to specialized services, identify vulnerable cases, ensure survivor-centered approaches, and strengthen community protection mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess cases requiring psychological or social intervention and conduct individual sessions.
- Provide individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
- Follow up on documented cases and conduct home visits when needed.
- Identify and refer individuals requiring medical or psychological assistance.
- Provide psychological first aid to community members in need.
- Organize activities for children and women to promote resilience, including recreational activities for mental health.
- Contribute to community awareness on protection issues.
- Provide psychoeducation to affected populations based on identified needs.
- Organize supportive community activities (art sessions for children, discussion groups, etc.).
- Ensure beneficiaries are well-informed about available services.
- Maintain monitoring data and produce regular narrative and quantitative reports.
- Attend supervision and learning sessions with team members.
- Fully adhere to humanitarian principles in all activities.
- Strictly comply with humanitarian standards, organizational policies, Code of Conduct, PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), and Child Protection.
- Zero tolerance for any form of exploitation or abuse.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Counseling, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social work or psychosocial support.
- Experience in conducting individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
- Experience in managing beneficiary databases.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong experience in writing narrative and quantitative reports.
- Ability to work with children, women, and vulnerable groups.
- Teamwork and adaptability under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and beneficiary safety at all times.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Physically healthy with sound senses.
- Presentable appearance.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong observation skills.
