Job advertisement: Water and environmental sanitation technician – Marib and Al-Jawf
HUMAN ACCESS – Marib and Al-Jawf Governorate Branch announces its need to employ a water and environmental sanitation technician in the Integrated and Sustainable Assistance to Meet Needs (INSAN) project in highly dangerous and deprived areas in Marib Al-Wadi and Khab Walsh’af districts.
Position: Water and environmental sanitation technician
Number required: Four employees
Location: Marib and Al-Jawf governorates
Job definition: Ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in project implementation
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Participate with the technical advisor for water and sanitation in implementing technical studies for the targeted components within the targeted sites.
2. Participate in committees for handing over work sites to contractors within its geographical scope and verify that the handover minutes are completed and signed by all concerned parties.
3. Make inventory for the daily supplies of raw materials (supplies) to work sites, examine their contents, verify their conformity with the agreed upon specifications and standards, and ensure their safe storage.
4. Conformity of raw materials supplied to work sites with the material specifications within the laboratory test results document approved by the project officer.
5. Direct daily monitoring of the work being carried out at the sites he is responsible for, and verify their conformity with the agreed upon tables of quantities, plans, specifications and standards.
6. Coordinate with contractors to arrange time schedules for carrying out the works within the various sites, ensure at a minimum his direct presence or the project officer during the implementation of reinforced concrete at any site and his knowledge of the completed works within a certain stage before moving on to the works within the next stage, some of which can be referred to as follows:
- Review the completed excavations before starting to lay the foundations.
- Review the completed foundations before starting the backfilling process.
- Review the completed blacksmithing work before starting to pour concrete.
- Review the completed construction work before starting roof work.
7. Submit immediate reports on any violations, indicating their quantities, locations, costs, and the risks resulting from not correcting them.
8. Update the daily activity record for each site by describing the work carried out, the quantities used, and writing any explanatory notes.
9. Document with clips and photographs of the various stages of implementation.
10. Submit to the water and sanitation consultant the additional works (descriptions and quantities) proposed by him or by another party (the contractor, beneficiaries committee, management of the targeted institution, etc.) and the proposed party’s justifications for them and his point of view on them if they were proposed by another party.
11. Participate in field supervisory visits from the project management and/or its partners and provide correct and accurate information about the project’s interventions to the concerned parties or their representatives.
12. Submit periodic reports required using the approved forms.
13. Participate in the committees for receiving completed works from contractors within its geographical scope and verify that the receipt records are completed and signed by all concerned parties.
14. Abide by the daily working hours specified by the project management and as required by the work on the site.
15. Adhere to the project’s code of conduct, if any.
16. Adhere to any other tasks assigned to him by his direct supervisor, in a manner that does not conflict with the tasks mentioned above.
Job requirements
Qualifications and experience
- A professional diploma before or after high school in the field of building and construction or similar.
- At least three years of experience in the same field of work.
- The applicant must have worked as a resident supervisor on construction projects.
- Good level of speaking and writing skills in English.
- Good level of working on basic Microsoft Office applications.
Skills and abilities
- The ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and standards and apply them to reality.
- Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner, especially in various emergency situations.
- Ability to monitor, evaluate, and prepare reports.
- Ability to think independently, make decisions, and solve problems.
- Basic skills in direct supervision

- The applicant must not have had any previous convictions related to exploitation, abuse, sexual harassment, fraud, corruption, or conflict of interest.
